About Us

This website tells some of the history and the locality of Budgee Budgee, NSW, Australia. It was developed by the late Norman McVicker who was a local historian living in the area from 1980 to 2012. He wrote the contents of this blog in his retirement in his late eighties,  having researched the history and met local people, he described these and his observation of the local environment, flora and fauna; including the animals that frequently visited his place of residence.

Norman was known in the area as the founder of Eurunderee Provisional School Foundation 1989-2001. The foundation helped restoring the Eurunderee School complex which is the site of the “Old Bark School” immortalised by Henry Lawson.

Norman subsequently wrote weekly columns on the Mudgee Guardian about history of the School and various aspects and associations between the School and the people in the surrounding area. His articles later expanded covering the life and “quirky stories” of interesting people from around Australia.

Norman was also the founder of the Pocket Playhouse in Sydenham, NSW, which run for over 30 years,  an audit manager at Qantas and an ex-service man during World War 2.
